Kaunas is the second-largest city in Lithuania with about 350,000 people and is considered to be the centre of Lithuanian economic, academic, and cultural life. The most student-centered city in Lithuania, it is located in the central part of the country and is surrounded by the two largest Lithuanian rivers: Nemunas and Neris. Kaunas is located 100 kilometers from the capital Vilnius and 212 kilometers from the Country's major seaport Klaipeda and is famous for its colourful history, cosy parks and the wonderful Old Town.
